Crystal Parker was introduced to Pilates in 2002 when a rugby injury took her off the pitch. She was impressed by the diversity of the practitioners in her weekly mat classes, and became certified through Power Pilates in 2009.
Crystal received her M.Ed. from The George Washington University in 2010. An enthusiastic learner, she has pursued several Pilates certifications and training programs, including two comprehensive approaches to the Classical work. In 2013, Crystal trained in Authentic Pilates through PURE Pilates Asheville under Penelope Wyer Barrow, a second generation instructor who trained with and served as an assistant to Romana Kryzanowksa, Joseph Pilates’ protégé. In 2014, Crystal pursued further training through InsideOut Body Therapies in Durham, a training center affiliated with The Pilates Center of Boulder, CO.
Crystal has attended a variety of conferences and intimate workshops all over the US, learning from leading Classical Pilates instructors including Kathi Ross Nash, Jay Grimes, Brooke Siler, Mari Winsor, Chris Robinson, Blossom Leilani Crawford, Sandy Shimoda, Dana Santi, and MeJo Wiggin.
Crystal has trained clients both individually and in groups at Duke University, the residential weight management program at the Duke Diet & Fitness Center, the Duke Faculty Club, and various other yoga and Pilates studios in Durham and Chapel Hill. She received her 200-RYT certification in 2016 through Carolina Yoga Companies and relocated from Durham to Davidson in 2017.
Later in 2017, Crystal received a specialty certification in Pre and Post Natal Pilates under Jennifer Gianni at Fusion Pilates in Asheville. She and her husband, Jason, welcomed their daughter, Eloise, in March of 2018 and recently welcomed their son, Thomas, at the tail end of June 2019.
Crystal is thrilled to share her movement experiences with the community, particularly new mamas and mamas-to-be.
