I have always been active, whether it be biking, hiking, running or playing tennis. Years ago I had to slow down due to an achilles tendon injury that lead to surgery. I started practicing pilates. I was surprised by the degree of difficulty it was in regard to using deep core muscles, aligning my body efficiently and making me aware of how misaligned I was. Luckily, my minimal pilates experience and a level one mat course helped me rehabilitate so that I was able to come out stronger than before. I became hooked and decided to further my training to become a comprehensively certified pilates instructor to share my love of the method with others.
I am fully certified and trained in the Stott Pilates Method and bridged over to Balanced Body. I’ve taken intensive courses with the following Master trainers, Marie-Jose Blom, Jen Gianni, John Garey, Kathy Corey, Elizabeth Larkam and others and was fortunate to spend two years at an instructor training center to hone in on my pilates skills. I’ve taken workshops for osteoporosis, menopause, pre and post pregnancy, gait, injury and special populations, postural analysis, fascia, anatomy and myofascial release to name a few. I enjoy educating people in the pilates method so that they can become stronger, more aware of their bodies, giving them better balance and control and if needed, freer of pain. I especially enjoy watching clients progress in mind, body and spirit.
In my free time I love to garden, hike, bike, check out farmer’s markets, travel, try out new restaurants, and spend time with friends and family. I started my career in Davidson and I’m thrilled to be back to teaching in my home town once again. I look forward to seeing you around town!
